Chester in Love!

Before Adoption (first photo):
Chester is a senior Chihuahua who desperately needs your help! He was dropped off at Miami Dade on Sunday the 19th with a broken leg. No one has come looking for him. If you look at his picture, you can see how frightened he is, and that he is not able to stand. The shelter put him in the injured ward, and he has been there ever since with no medical treatment whatsoever. Chester faced certain death because he was not even available for the public to see, and he stood very little chance of adoption. He has been there in that frightening environment and in constant pain for four days. Lost Angels saw Chester’s plight and although we are very full, we could not allow him to die like this. However, due to shelter rules, he cannot be released until Saturday. He will have gone a week without treatment. As soon as we can get him released he will be taken to a vet to evaluate and treat his leg, and he will finally be given the pain medication he needs so badly. We do not know the extent of his injury, and we do not know how much additional damage has been done with a week where his broken bones were not properly set and supported. But we are determined to bring him through this, to love him totally, and to see him safely into a new forever home. Chester’s bills will be high, and we desperately need your help to be able to save his leg and get him on the road to recovery. No donation is too small. Lost Angels Rescue is a 501c3 rescue and your donation is tax deductible. Please chip in for Chester. Pictures of his progress will be posted regularly.
After adoption!!
UPDATE on Chester and his new home. Here are the pictures of Chester, one shows him with his girlfriend Chloe. Chester is a gallant soul, both with other dogs and with me, and you can see that in the way he gently courts her. Chester is the unofficial head of my "pack". He always has his eye on the others, making sure that everything is OK. It wasn't long after Chester came to live with me that I realized that he had a unique personality. He reminds me of an elegant Spanish lord: gentle, refined and intelligent, and also proud and strong of spirit. Chester is independent, but he chooses to cast his life in and along with mine. He is my protector, and my little man, although the only thing little about him is his physical size. Each day when I pick him up from Day Care, he runs to greet me with such joy, I honestly can't imagine him not being there. For this reason, I decided to adopt him. His leg is still mending but the bone has begun to knit, and it no longer trips him up the way it used to. I do rehabilitation therapy with him, trying to move the leg and restore the range of movement. He does use his leg sometimes at a walk pace, but when he really gets running, he only uses the other three. Chester's coat now glistens like patent leather, and he is the picture of health. Thanks to Lost Angels, Chester is no longer "lost" ... he is home.

Mercy Me Update - Needs a Home!

Mercy is the dog seen on the news months ago who was shot in the back of the head at close range, execution style by what they believe was a .22 caliber hand gun. Tampa Veterinary Hospital performed her surgery and it was a success. Mercy now has limited movement in one ear, but other than that is a normal happy, healthy girl!
Mercy is currently being fostered but is searching for her forever home.

SUZY WAS SAVED!

Suzy was found by a Sherriff's officer several months ago wandering the streets - nothing but skin and bones. One of Lost Angels volunteers happened to drive by the scene and offered to take Suzy. The officer was very greatly knowing that Suzy would now get the care and attention she deserved. This poor girl was hours from death... and look at her now!!!! Suzy is a happy healthy girl who after wonderful care and love from her foster mom has now found her forever home :)
Suzy's new name is Gili. Her new owners say is setting in just fine. She will now always have a safe home where she will always be fed and loved. It doesn't get any better than that!

Willie the Wonder Dog

Here's our little guy as he looked yesterday on our lanai. We think he was saying "what, me worry?"

Lucy's Adventures

Lucy is doing just fine!
She's making progress with us - we earn a little more of her trust each week I think. She's still no lap dog, but she's learned a lot! She has learned sit, up, lay down, shake, touch, stay, drop it, and go to the carpet. We're working on speak and go potty. She still has rare accidents in the house now and again, but she's definitely beginning to understand the connection between outside and potty.

We have an interesting story though. Last night my husband and I went for a hike in the nature trails behind our place. The windows were open because it was a cool night, and we could hear Lucy barking until we were well out of sight. We went about 1/2 mile from home before we decided to leave the trail to go bushwack through the woods. We were more than a football field's length into the brush, checking out a den and some signs of wild pig/boar when we heard heavy breathing approaching and twigs snapping - something was coming toward us fast! We braced ourselves.... and who do we see coming barreling through the brush but Lucy?! We were SO shocked and amazed. We had no idea she could track a scent so accurately, and with no training either! My next thought was feeling horrified that we could have lost her (She'd bent the screen and poppied it out of place). But she had ignored all the interesting smalls and sounds, and come right to us. I'm sure she will continue to surprise us as time goes on... but from now on we will definitely close the windows when we leave, just to be safe! :)

Thank you so much for our little Wonder Dog!
Sincerely,
Sara and Tim

Yippee for Louie!

Hey Guys!

Wanted to give you an update about our boy... He's settling in nicely. He ate without fuss, has taken a couple of napes, pottied in the yard, and we discovered a hidden talent of his... Louie can sing!!! Thank you for taking care of him so well. We can tell he definitely misses you.

Take care,

Emily & Daniel
